St. Patty's Day 5K

Well, I did it.  I ran my first official 5K.  And how did I do, do you ask?  Good.  Great!  GRAND!  WONDERFUL!!!  (No yelling on the bus!)  (Name that movie!)

Overall, there were things that I liked and things that I really didn't like about the race.  I didn't like that we didn't start on time.  I'm pretty sure it was 10 minutes late.  I didn't like that there wasn't a really "Start" line.  I didn't like that the only thing I got at the finish line was water (but that part doesn't really matter).  I didn't like that the guy in front of me the WHOLE race was wearing liner shorts that were GREY and TIGHT and GROSS.
But I did like that after I crossed the finish line, I got a card with my info saying my time, pace and rank.  Oh.  Are you waiting for me to tell you my time?  Well:

26:17.1
(8:27 min/mi)
16th place OVERALL (but I'm pretty sure that means women overall)
5th in Women 25-29

YES!!!!!!!!  I did it!  I came in under 27 minutes!  I'm so happy and I was really, REALLY pushing at the end.  My first mile I did in 8:16, second mile was 8:45 and last mile was 8:46.

Also, my hubby made it there and got a picture of me with the last .1 to go.

Best.Picture.EVER.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Congrats on a great time. I just ran my first 5k 32:33. Do you have any suggestions on how to train to get my speed up?

Billy Madison is my all-time favorite movie! I have most of it memorized and I am *SUPER* annoying to watch it with for that reason. Girl, you are quickly becoming one of my favorite people! Ha ha!

Beautiful pic ;) and great time on your 1st 5k!

Congrats! The first race is always the BEST race, even if you don't get any cool "bling" after you finish. Great time too. Cool that your hubby was able to take the "possessed" pic of you! :-)

Awesome first race. And I love Billy Madison too.... and Happy Gilmore... and most of Adam Sandler's movies... I actually named my cat sandler after him.

Thanks again for inviting me to race and good job on the great time . . . the only reason I got a good time is because I was trying so hard to keep up with YOU!! So, thanks for the inspiration :) Love the pictures.

First of all, I'm freaking OBSESSED with that picture. For reals. It cracks me up every time I see it.

Second of all, nice job at meeting your goal! My 5K PR is 26:21...this just reiterates the fact that we would be perfect running buddies. We would push each other to the limit!
