Earth Day 10K

I have completed my first 10K race.

It was a harder course than I thought and I'm ashamed to say it: I walked.  For about 20 seconds (I had to readjust my stupid jacket that was tied around my waist - it had my cell phone in it and was bouncing all over the place - I solved that problem by shoving it down my shorts).

This course had a LOT of elevation change and Mile 4 had 2 freaking steep hills in a row.  BUT!  I plowed up and didn't walk.

Automatic PR of 59:58.  And I was pumped that I made it under an hour with those stupid hills.  Go me!  I even came in 6th in my age group and only 22nd overall.  I love small races!
I like that I look like I'm dying.

Great job on your race, that's an awesome time for a first 10K...I have my own first in two weeks and I would LOVE to come in under an hour!
Never be ashamed of walking...it's all about getting to the finish line and being proud!

Walking is OK, in case you didn't know! As long as you don't walk the entire course. I love your pic. I think you look "determined." I had a few more adjectives in mind, but I'll use the safe ones...yup, "determined" and I'll add "focused." Congrats on the automatic PR and breaking an hour. :-)

Way to go on your 10K. I walked a little during mine. Especially on the hills... I am a big baby with hills! Have a wonderful weekend!

Nice job on the race. I love the pic too. I can still see a smile on your face. I also love the snow in the mountains in the background. My first (and only) 10k time was at least 10 minutes slower. I guess I'll have to run another one to see if I can beat ya.

My girlfriend loves getting pictures of me like this (i.e. looking like I'm dying) and then jokingly teasing me about it later. Haha. That's funny about having to shove the phone down your shorts. I guess what else can you to do with it though?

nice work! auto PRs are awesome.

And hey, for the record - I walked during my current 10K pr too. It happens to all of us.
