This is my "I woke up at 3:30am" face.
We had to wait about an hour up at the start line. (That's my brother-in-law messing with his ear buds.)
I got to see Princess Leia.
My dad took some video of us running (what is up with her weird form?). *WARNING - ALL VIDEO MAY MAKE YOU MOTION SICK*
More video - I was DONE. This is just after Mile 11 (it makes me laugh. Yes, I was walking (and weirdly, I might add)).
Less than a mile to go and - oh man - am I huffing and puffing! Feel free to make fun of me.
They had horse statues all down the last 1/2 mile to the finish line. I loved them... even if this picture says "I'm in pain!" (and yes, less than 2 minutes after saying, "Don't let me stop" I stopped.)
Our support (my husband with Katie in our jogging stroller, my mom (trying to take pictures), my sister with her newborn and 2 year old in the stroller)). And my dad saying - Hey a pep band! I love pep bands!
And then we (that is to say, I) tried to sprint in.
And this is what the Garmin says I finished in.
My offical chip time says 2:10:13. So I beat my B Goal. Hooray for me!
I didn't get a picture of me and my dad after the race. We've run 7 races together and this was the first time that we FINISHED together. (I may have begged him not to leave me.)
The last 3 miles hurt and I really struggled. My pace was all over the place during the race. Anywhere from 8:40 to 11:20. Plus some walking. That's what you get for not training!
But I did it, and it's done and I hope that run it again next year.
The End.

Antsy Pants
Normally, the day before a race I'm cool as a cucumber.
This is not the case today.
It could be because of the fact that I haven't run a half marathon in over a year.
It could be because the forecast is for rain.
It could be because I will have to wake up around 3am to get ready and drive over an hour to make it to the loading buses by 5:30am.
It could be because I have NOT trained well at all.
It could be because I don't know what I'm going to wear.
It could be that I have to hurry through the race to drive another hour down to meet with an ear, nose and throat doctor to have my baby checked out so that she can get tubes (we've had 5 ear infections within the last 2 months).
I'm going with C) All of the above.
But I'll be running as fast as I can make myself.
GOALS
A) Sub 2:04:15 for a new PR
B) Sub 2:15:00
C) Finish in time to get Baby Girl to her appointment.
I will tell you right now, it's going to be C. And I'm okay with that.

Revolution
I finally took Baby Girl with me on a run. She fell asleep after 1.5 miles and I made it 6 miles before she woke up. So my 9 miler turned into a 6.5, but that's okay. I liked having her along and it was a new challenge figuring out how to run with the BOB. I was surprised at how much slower I was with it. So those wonder women that run sub 7 minute miles with a double are seriously AMAZING.
Anyway, the knee didn't bother me at all and I felt really good for the run (just slower... which was probably a good thing for me - I'll call it a taper). Now I just need to get a run or two in tonight and tomorrow and I'll be ready (but not really) for the race on Saturday.

Lazy
Confession time. I don't train properly for races.
Case in point: Saturday's 10 mile run. I ran 10 miles after not doing any running for a week. The previous Saturday I had run only 3 miles. On the treadmill. I think that I didn't run during that week either.
Anyway, what I'm getting to is that because I don't train like I should... I get a nice case of Runner's Knee. Awesome.
It's my own fault, so I'm trying not to complain. And I'm planning to train better in the... 10 days... that I have before my race.
I'm cool like that.
What's that? You want to see another picture of my cutie pie? You got it.

10
I've got 10 miles on deck for tomorrow's run.
And here's a confession: I haven't run at all this week. And last Saturday? I only ran 3 miles.
So... tomorrow is going to hurt. And I can't say that I'm looking forward to it.
