So I have a virus. I'm extremely contagious as long as I'm coughing. I have a note to stay home from work all week. I have a prescription for cough syrup. And for the most part, I can't run because it will trigger my cough.
I still think that I will try to run. Not today. But tomorrow. And I will go on the treadmill, because the cold will make me cough more. I hate the treadmill.
But I really like having a note from the doctor. It makes me laugh. I've never had a doctor tell me to stay away from people before. It's kind of exciting... except I can't do anything.
P.S. My abs are getting a killer workout from coughing so much. They haven't felt this sore in a LONG time.

A Day Home Sick Is Still Better Than A Day At Work
So I've been sick since Saturday night. I stayed home from work yesterday and am staying home again today. I've got a nasty cough, sinus congestion and runny nose. Sounds like your standard cold, but it doesn't feel like it. Ugh. I haven't been running since Saturday and I really, really want to... so should I risk it, or should I wait until I feel better? I'm planning to see a doctor today.
I really hate being sick.

Carb-load at the Food Court
Yes, I did eat my dinner at a mall food court last night. I didn't have much to work with and got pizza from Sbarro and a breadstick. It didn't fill me up, so I got my first Blizzard from Dairy Queen in over 4 years and ate it on the way to the concert . Excellent choices, I know. Guess what? I don't even care!
We didn't get home from the concert until after midnight (the concert was FABULOUS and if you ever have a chance to see Billy/Elton together, then you should!), so I didn't get to start my run as early as I wanted. I chose my favorite 3 mile loop around a lake (man-made) near my home and did it three times. There were plenty of other runners, but I only got passed once. And it was a dude... so that's okay in my book. I don't want to get passed by girls. But all of the other girl runners were running the opposite direction of me, so they just got a "Morning", if they looked up. Some people don't look up and that bothers me. It's not like you don't see me running towards you! Why don't you acknowledge me as another runner? A kindred spirit?? I'm always waiting with a smile for them, and when they won't look up I want to trip them. Is that bad?
I did my 9 miles in 1:31:03. I was shooting for under 1:30, but close enough considering I ran a mile farther than was on my training schedule (I've had to bump up my miles one week with the new 1/2 that I'm doing). I'm not a very faster runner. And I'm okay with that.

Piano Men
I signed up for another race today. The Shamrock 1/2 Marathon on March 20th. Which is only 1 month away from today. Oh, and one week later I'm running another 1/2 marathon. No big deal.
Actually, it WILL be a big deal. I've never run races this close together (my norm is - you know - a few months in between). So I will have three races within 10 days. I'm actually really excited about it!
Tomorrow I have a 9 mile long run. And tonight my husband and I are seeing Billy Joel/Elton John in concert. A really good start to the weekend!

Lunch Break
I very recently - meaning only last week - started running on my lunch break. My husband is very proud of me (I have now run while I at work 4 times) and I get a really mixed reaction from people in the office. My bosses think it's awesome, some of the agents tell me "good for you", and others are really bothered by the fact that I am running and then not showering.
It just so happens that I am one of those people that don't sweat very much. So just take a chill-pill, people.
Today I ran 3.1 miles. As I was getting ready to go change into my running clothes, I realized that I didn't eat an hour before, like I had been on my previous runs. The last food that I had was a bowl of Multigrain Cheerios almost 5 hours ago. Drat! So I wasn't as prepared as my previous runs and I really could feel it the last mile. I started out pretty strong (for me, strong is 8:45 - 9:15) and kept it up for the first half, but then got progressively slower until I looked down and my pace was 10:40. Ugh.

P.S. I love Nike+, but no matter how many times I try to calibrate my sensor, it doesn't track my miles accurately. So my pace and miles completed are faster and farther than I really go. I love my Garmin.

What Have I Done?
A fitness blog? Have I lost my mind? I'm just another wannabe healthy person/runner that has a blog. Welcome to my world of stats - because I love to track everything.
